In mid-April, hundreds of people attended the first-ever New Orleans-based Diner en Blanc. Originated in Paris, the international pop-up picnic was held at the New Orleans’ riverfront underneath the Crescent City Connection.
As one of the four events under the ‘Social Renaissance’ series produced by Spears Consulting, the event was the first creative attempt to appeal to young professionals. Attendees, dressed in all-white, brought their own tables, chairs, food and beverages for what has been referred to as a flash-mob picnic.
Attendees were not given the location until two days prior to the event. Upon arriving each guest was given a gift bag that included sparklers and bottles of bubbles, which gave the evening a memorable ambiance set against an illuminated Crescent City Connection.
