Money, Power, Respect with Kemberley Washington
If you know me, you know I truly love everything fashion, from heels to purses and, of course, I love my dresses! And if you know my story, you will know my love for fashion was the demise of my finances in my college days.
Now that I am thirtysomething, I am a bit wiser and a lot better with my money than I was in my college years. And while my wallet no longer runs empty; these days, I only spend a fraction of the cost. But I still look like a million bucks.
Put staple items in your wardrobe
It is extremely important to have a few items that will never go out of style. I like to refer to these as staple items. These items can serve as a foundation for your wardrobe. And since you can pair these items with almost anything, it can help you stretch your dollar. More importantly, know that you can find absolutely everything your heart desires on sale! One of my favorite apps is Polyvore! I like to refer to it as my secret weapon. Let’s say for instance you desire a blazer, just search for it on Polyvore, select your price range and like magic, it will find every blazer within your budget!
Keep in mind, your staple items should include a nice blazer, jeans that aren’t too trendy that they date themselves and a classic suit. I also suggest timeless accessories such as classic pearl sets and a cute pair of pumps for women. Additionally, men should add dress and casual shirts that could be dressed up or down for any occasion.
Because trends come and go
After you have built your staple pieces, it is okay to dress up your outfits with trendy items and accessories. Add accessories that can update any look. Just be careful not to overspend on these items, since they can go in and out of style.
Before falling in love with any clothing piece, do your homework. There is usually a similar look for a fraction of the cost if you take the time to search for it. Keep your eyes out for bargains and use apps such as GeoQpon that alert you when there is a sale.
Remember: your choice, your future!
