Dr. Dwight and Beverly McKenna, the McKenna Museums, and book clubs—Food for Thought and Between the Lines—recently hosted a book signing featuring the new Simon and Schuster release, Katrina: After the Storm.
The highly-acclaimed work by former New York Times reporter Gary Rivlin was built around the post-Katrina recovery of Liberty Bank and Trust under the leadership of the bank’s president, Alden J. McDonald. In addition to saluting Liberty, the Sunday afternoon salon provided an opportunity for friends to come together and reflect on the post-storm recovery of their community.
Beverly McKenna credited the book as being one of the best and most objective accounts of the cataclysmic disaster; she shared that the author had spent many hours at The Tribune’s office researching the paper’s archives, thus contributing another perspective to the Hurricane Katrina narrative.
