New Orleans Public Library to Extend Service Hours

The New Orleans Public Library Foundation and New Orleans Public Library (NOPL) are proud to announce extended library service hours beginning Jan. 3, 2016. The extended library service hours are made possible by the passage of the 25-year, 2.5 mill increase dedicated to the New Orleans Public Library.

NOPL will have multiple libraries open seven days a week for the first time in its history, as well as other locations open six days a week. Currently, there are no libraries open on Sundays and only three locations are open on Fridays.

“Due to the community’s overwhelming support of increasing the New Orleans Public Library’s funding, we are pleased to be able to expand our service hours beginning in 2016,” says NOPL Executive Director Charles Brown. “We are focused on continuing and now increasing our role as an important and valuable education, entertainment and recreation resource for all.”
