From a press release

With violent crime rising, City Councilmember Nadine Ramsey is taking action. She is ramping up her effort to get guns off the streets of New Orleans through a Citywide Gun Buyback Program on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Roch Community Church on 1738 St. Roch Avenue. This will be the second round of incentives to hand over weapons. Ramsey led the first buyback in 2016, and the event netted over 170 guns in a single day.
“This is common sense. We’re providing a strong incentive to get the guns off the street,” Ramsey said. “We were successful last year because of strong community participation, and we’re expecting that again this year .”
Participants can drop off the weapons anonymously with no questions asked and will receive gift cards for up to five firearms surrendered. Donators will receive a $100 gift card for handguns, shotguns, or rifles; one can also receive a $200 gift card for an assault weapon. Additional sponsors of the program include: Congressman Cedric Richmond, Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Rouse, Senator Wesley Bishop, State Senator Troy Carter, State Representative Gary Carter, State Representative Jimmy Harris, Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman, Second City Clerk Darren Lombard, Second City Constable Edwin Shorty, Morris Bart, LLC., Metro Services Group and Faubourg St. Roch Improvement Association.
