Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal

Civil Court Clerk Dale Atkins or Judge Robin Pittman

The New Orleans Tribune issues a dual endorsement in the race for the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal. We believe each candidate is well-qualified and would bring unique perspectives and experiences to the post. Atkins has been a public servant and community leader in New Orleans, serving as Civil District Clerk Court for nearly 30 years. Meanwhile, Pittman has served the people of the Orleans Parish as a criminal court judge for almost a decade. We are convinced that a vote for either of these dedicated New Orleanians would be a good choice.

State House of Representatives, District 93

Royce Duplessis

The New Orleans Tribune endorses attorney and community leader Royce Duplessis in this race. Duplessis has vast and varied experiences as well as a deep connection to community that are essential to ensuring that the people of New Orleans and District 93, in particular, are well represented in Baton Rouge.

Though he now heads his own law firm and has worked in the Louisiana City Court, Washington D.C. Superior Court and as chief of staff for former city councilman James Carter, the St. Augustine High School and Xavier University graduate counts among his greatest accomplishments the time he spends mentoring young boys as a part of the local Silverback Society. To us, that signals that Duplessis understands the importance of meeting the needs of our youth as essential to the future of our city. And we expect him to bring those values with him to the state capitol.

Civil District Court, Div. A

First City Court Clerk Ellen Hazeur

In the race for Civil District Court, The New Orleans Tribune endorses First City Court Clerk Ellen Hazeur. While her opponent Richard Perque strikes us as a capable compassionate attorney with passion for the people of New Orleans and ample experience in the family law, Hazeur’s deep experiences and long-time commitment to the people of the city cannot be ignored. We believe the former two-term city councilwoman will serve families and the people of New Orleans well as civil court judge.
