Take Em Down NOLA is hosting a press conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, on the steps of City Hall to discuss plans to address what they call Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s lack of transparency and her coordination of secret meetings, compromises, and appointments with residents who opposed the removal of four confederate-era monuments.
“At this point, there can be NO compromises with white supremacy and economic exploitation, New Orleans must have a chance at moving forward toward progress, at the pace that prioritizes the needs of working class folk in this predominately Black and Brown, working class city,” ays TEDN organizer, Malcolm Suber. “To do otherwise is a betrayal of the voters who elected Mayor Cantrell to bring equity and economic justice to the majority of the city’s population.”
