WBOK 1230 AM relaunched today (Monday, Oct. 1) with exciting new programming on at 5:30am. In response to audience feedback, the programming has been tailored to fit the needs and wants of the community.
The improved programming line-up allows the station to continue to carry out it’s mission of increasing awareness, enhancing perspectives, and inspiring transformative change while serving as a cornerstone of news and information for the community.
“After assessing the programming and its impact on our community, we found the need to upgrade our product to match the needs of our audience,” ays Susan Henry, general manager of WBOK 1230 AM. “During the ‘re-boot’ period, we created new content, secured syndicated broadcasts, increased our digital footprint and upgraded with brand new technology. We also brainstormed ways to reach a younger audience. We all understand the current generation receives and processes information in a different manner. It is imperative for WBOK to utilize every vehicle of communication available that can help us reach and speak to that demographic.”
Amidst the changes, WBOK is bringing back some of the listener’s favorite hosts and shows like The Conscious Hour with Chuck Perkins, The Good Morning Show with Oliver Thomas, On The Move with Kyndra Joi. The station will feature a brand new weekday show, The Carpool with DC Paul. In addition to running nationally syndicated radio shows, WBOK will feature local programming with community staples such as Taetrice Harris, Carol Jackson, Big Abe, Bishop Lester Love, Adrienne Dixson and many more.
“You will get a completely revamped WBOK,” said Danny Bakewell Jr., co-owner of Bakewell Media Company. “We will continue to reach listeners locally and nationally on important issues in our communities,” added Mr. Bakewell.
