Students will Explore Careers in STEM, Arts, and Business
Verizon will present its inaugural Youth Empowerment Day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Dillard University in honor of National Youth Mentoring Month in the U.S.

Youth Empowerment Day is a fun-filled day of interactive educational activities, motivational speakers, and practical application exercises that will expose participants in grades 5th through 10th to new experiences and topics while encouraging them to think about their future career goals confidently.

The event will feature three areas of focus: STEM, Arts & Humanities, and Business & Entrepreneurship. Each subject area will be led by subject matter experts including Propeller and Verizon’s Innovative Learning Lab and will feature a hands-on activity that will allow students to experience potential career paths.

Special guests include STEM NOLA Founder Dr. Calvin Mackie, Footprints to Fitness Founder April Dupre, and will feature a performance by popular New Orleans group, Roots of Music.
