SBP, in partnership with the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority, the City of New Orleans, and the Louisiana Housing Corporation, held a groundbreaking ceremony for 60 new units located in the Lower Ninth Ward at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. at 1302 Jourdan Ave.

The two- and three-bedroom homes will all be energy-efficient and affordable to households at or below 60 percent of the city’s area median income. Built as doubles, the units will include off-street parking.  The homes will be constructed in phases, with the first homes available this summer.  

SPB, formally known as St. Bernard Project, is a nonprofit disaster relief organization founded after Hurricane Katrina. Through programs and developments such as the Owner-Occupied Rebuilding Program, Opportunity Housing, and St. Peter Residential, SBP serves low to moderate-income residents with homeownership and rental opportunities.
