Individuals who meet the criteria of healthcare workers and first responders can test for COVID-19 at two sites in the New Orleans area through a program with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The sites will be operated by the City of New Orleans, as well as the Louisiana National Guard.
The sites are Mahalia Jackson Theater Parking Lot and the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena Parking Lot. Both sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, beginning today (Friday, March 20). Testing will only be available to healthcare facility workers and first responders who show symptoms of COVID-19.
Testers will be required to arrive in a vehicle. Upon arrival at a site, they must remain in their vehicles, provide identification, health insurance information and a healthcare facility employee or first responder badge. However, those who do not have insurance will still be tested.
Test results will be given by phone within three to five days.
