District Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen and Household of Faith have partnered to host several food distributions today (Friday, April 24) in one convenient location.

The distribution will take place from 9 a.m. until noon today at Household of Faith, 9300 I-10 Service Rd.

Other partners include Gateway Gourmet, Second Harvest Food Bank, Catholic Charities, and Entergy New Orleans.

Gateway Gourmet will provide 6,000 pre-cooked meals, with each family receiving up to seven meals.

In another food give-away, Second Harvest is providing a box of food items to the first 200 families in need at this event. This will be food bank style boxes with a mixture of fresh food and non-perishables that can feed a family for over a week.

Catholic Charities will provide 100 boxes of commodities for seniors in District E. Seniors do not need to be present to receive the box, but those picking up the commodities on a senior citizen’s should have that person’s name, address, birth date, and income.

Entergy New Orleans has joined the effort, as well, by donating 100 free energy efficiency kits. The kits include LED light bulbs, a water-saver shower head and faucet aerators, as well as information on more ways to save on energy costs.

All of items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
