City Councilman Jared Brossett, along with several other elected officials, and community and faith leaders will host free, walk-up COVID-19 community testing in the District D on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20.
Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or as long as test supplies last each day at Asia Baptist Church, 1400 Sere St. Testing will be conducted by Ochsner Medical Center and the New Orleans Health Department.
“I’m immensely grateful to all those involved in making this critical walk-up testing site possible,” said Brossett.”This represents a big step in ensuring all of our city’s residents have access to testing, addressing longstanding health inequities.”
Others joining this effort include City Councilwoman-at-large Helena Moreno, Sheriff Marlin Gusman, state Sen. Karen Carter-Peterson, state Sen. Joe Bouie, state Rep. Royce Duplessis, state Rep. Mandie Landry, and state Rep. Matthew Willard.
Leaders of three Gentilly area congregations are also hosting this event. They are Pastor K.G. Thibodeaux (The Asia Baptist Church), Rev. Lionel Davis, Sr. (Pentecost Baptist Church), Father Anthony Bozeman (St. Raymond/St. Leo The Great Catholic Church).
