Upset that officials in Charlotte refuse to guarantee that the GOP can run around their city without restrictions, the word on the street is New Orleans is on short list of cities being consider to host the 2020 Republican National Convention.

What y’all think about that?

Well, never ones to bite our tongues, here is what we say. We certainly hope our city’s officials and industry leaders let the RNC know that there short list can get a little bit shorter.

Yes, we know the summer is typically slow and COVID-19 has hit the city’s tourism industry hard. But New Orleans, come on! This pandemic, the same one the president asserted was hoax just a few months ago is REAL. Let’s not ever, ever, ever be that pressed for a buck.

Reportedly, other cities being considered are Jacksonville, Orlando, Dallas, Nashville and Phoenix. We’re glad they have other options.

Because, NO, you can’t come to New Orleans in August 2020 if you don’t want to adhere to occupancy limits or wear masks or be restricted by whatever mandates will be in place at that time. Charlotte’s leaders are right. At this time unprecedented time, no one should be considering an entire convention where participants cannot be counted on to follow some basic guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

So could somebody call Donald Trump-n-‘nem to say they can scratch us off the list. Please. Thank you.
