Presidential Electors

JOSEPH R. BIDEN/KAMALA HARRIS

U.S. Senator

ADRIAN PERKINS

Louisiana has the opportunity by electing Adrian Perkins to the U.S. Senate. He would be the state’s first Black person elected statewide to represent the people of Louisiana since Reconstruction. More importantly, his voice and his vision are needed in Washington. As he points out, it is time for political games to end. Our state and nation need individuals ready to lead and govern with transparency, honesty, and a heart for the communities they represent.

He has done exceptional work on behalf of the people of Shreveport, where he is mayor; and we believe he is ready to work for all of the people of our state. Perkins has been endorsed by the Louisiana Democratic Party along with many other individuals and organization nationally, statewide and locally.

Associate Justice Supreme Court

(7th Supreme Court District)

TERRI LOVE

The candidates in the race for associate Supreme Court justice are experienced, fair and honorable jurists who certainly would serve well the people of Louisiana and the 7the Supreme Court District, specifically.  But none is more prepared, in our opinion, than Judge Terri Love. Twenty of her 25 years of experience as a judge have been at the appellate court. We are certain she is ready to transition from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court—the state’s highest court.

The author of the city of New Orleans’ first domestic violence ordinance, Judge Love has been an active member of New Orleans’ professional, civic and social communities. More importantly, she has a vision for the state Supreme Court that includes raising awareness of the workings of the judicial system by implementing technological advancements that increase public access to the process. Transparency, access, and equity in our judicial system have never been more important than they are now. And Judge Love’s commitment to these principles is why we encourage our readers, followers, and the people of New Orleans to join us in supporting Judge Terri Love for Louisiana Supreme Court.

Orleans Parish District Attorney

ARTHUR HUNTER

New Orleanians have the opportunity to elect a new district attorney—someone to help lead the city in substantive criminal justice reform. We urge the people of New Orleans to elect Arthur Hunter for this important task. A retired criminal district court judge who has already lead the way in reform by establishing and presiding over Re-Entry and Veterans Treatment courts to help stem the tied of recidivism and provide alternatives to incarceration, Hunter is also a former NOPD officer, a former defense attorney, and former city attorney.

He is right! He is the only candidate with experience in every area of our criminal justice system. He promises to keep our city safe by being tough on violent crime. Still, he understands and recognizes that mass incarceration is a problem. His pledge to increase the use of diversion programs, decriminalize marijuana and expand mental health treatment options for non-violent offenders are steps in the right direction that will make our city safer while keeping communities intact and builder stronger families by providing eligible offenders with the tools they need to live more productive lives. We believe Hunter will be independent, fair, and reformative.
