The City of New Orleans Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC) today confirmed that positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported among at least eight of the 42 youth and 12 of the 56 staff at the center.

All the juveniles were asymptomatic at the time of testing. Further testing of youth and staff is ongoing.

Families and attorneys of the youth have been notified accordingly and updated as each case evolves; additionally, ongoing proper health and safety measures are being taken to ensure any further spread is mitigated, according to a statement released by City officials.
