The Louisiana Department of Health is coordinating a COVID-19 vaccine distribution effort in Louisiana, resulting in vaccine availability at 100 sites, mostly pharmacies across the state. New Orleans East Hospital has received a limited supply as part of that effort, according to an announcement released by the hospital today (Monday, Jan. 4).
Starting the week of Jan. 4, these vaccines will be available only for:
- People 70 years old and above
- Ambulatory/outpatient care personnel
- People being treated for end stage renal disease (patients on dialysis)
- Schools of allied health students/residents/staff
- Home agency patients and personnel
Eligible individuals seeking the vaccine at New Orleans East Hospital must call 504-592-6628 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make an appointment. The vaccine will not be given without an appointment.
A list of locations across the state where the vaccine is available can be found here. These vaccinations are by appointment only and only for those fitting the categories outlined.
As more vaccines become available from the CDC, more individuals and groups will be offered a vaccination, according to information provided by the state of Louisiana Health Department.
