The family of music legend Antoine “Fats” Domino family and the residents of the Lower Ninth Ward will hold a community-wide second line and musical celebration in honor of the renaming of Caffin Avenue to Antoine “Fats” Domino Avenue.
The renaming celebration and second line takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and will start at the historic home of Fats Domino, 1100 Fats Domino Ave., and proceed down the renamed Domino Avenue to Oliver Bush Park where musical tributes to Fats will take place.
The second line will feature Stooges Brass Band, the MLK High School Marching Band, the 2022 King and Queen of Zulu, Zulu Tramps, Black Hatchet Indian Tribe, Big 9 CTC Steppers, Lower Ninth Ward Steppers, 9 times Social Aide and Pleasure Clubs.
Additional performers include Kermit Ruffin, MC Shaddy McCoy, Antoine Domino, Jr., Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, Al “Little Fats” Jackson, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Clark Knighten, Galethea M. Baham, the Royal Boys Choir and others.
