Admission to the outdoor concert is free and open to the public in exchange for a brand new, unopened toy.
The Trombone Shorty Foundation and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation in partnership with Warren Easton Charter High School will hold the annual “Tunes for Toys” toy drive and concert, at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Warren Easton High School’s Legacy Field, 3019 Canal St.
Attendees will experience a night of live music by students from the Trombone Shorty Academy, as well as performances by The Soul Rebels, the Warren Easton High School Band, and a special appearance by Le Bon Ton Babydolls.
Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews will also perform as special guest.
Admission to the outdoor concert is free and open to the public in exchange for a brand new, unopened toy. Gates open at 6 p.m., with live music starting at 7 p.m. Food trucks and vendors will be on site with refreshments available for purchase. The event will be hosted by Tonya Boyd-Cannon.
“Tunes for Toys” is also sponsored by JP Morgan Chase and Parkway Bakery & Tavern.
The toys will be distributed from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at Warren Easton High School at an event called “Toys from Troy.” There will be refreshments and photos. This event is also free and open to the public, and any child who attends will receive a free toy.
